Common questions

How do I change group or class?

Tap the class chip in the top bar (for example "Class 4") and choose Switch to Class. If a quest is open it is finished and filed first. You can move between any of the seven groups at any time.

Can I turn the timer off?

Yes. Mini mocks can run with the timer off, with the normal allowance (10 or 30 minutes to match the paper) or with a time you set yourself. Practice quizzes have no timer.

How does read aloud work?

Every question and hint has a speaker button, at slow, normal or fast speed. Reading each question automatically is a separate setting: on for Beginners and Kids profiles, off for older groups. The voice comes from your phone's or browser's own text-to-speech. If nothing is heard on Android, check that an English voice is installed under Settings.

Several children share one phone or PC. Can each have their own progress?

Yes. Tap the badge in the top right to open Who is learning?, add up to six explorers and swap between them with one tap. Each keeps their own class, stars, saved work, mistake book and settings.

Where are my mistakes kept?

Open Progress. It shows right and wrong answers overall and topic by topic, and a mistake book with what was answered next to what the answer was.

Does the Android app need the internet?

No. The whole question bank is inside the app. The Compete tab can open an organiser's website in your browser, and asks before it does.

How do I use it on a PC?

Open olympiad.tulx.app/app in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a PC or laptop. It is the same app. Progress is kept in that browser, so use the same browser on the same PC, or create an online account (below).

What is the online account on the web app?

A guardian can open Who is learning? and choose Save progress online. It asks for an email address and a password, and a grown-up sum. After that, the progress on that PC is saved to our server and can be opened on another PC by signing in. The Android app does not use accounts.

I signed in on a second PC and my progress was replaced.

When you sign in on a PC that already has progress, the app asks whether to use the progress saved in the account. If you say yes, the progress on that PC is replaced by the saved one. Choose no to keep the local progress and stay signed out.

Why do quizzes repeat?

The named quizzes and mocks are fixed sets, so a second attempt meets the same questions in a fresh order. The app says so on the set. Practice by topic draws from a wider pool.

I found a wrong answer or a spelling mistake.

Please tell us the group, subject, quiz name and question number. Every report is checked against the question bank and fixed in the next update. Thank you; these reports help every student who uses the app.

Deleting data

Android app: all data is on the phone only. To remove one explorer, open their profile from the badge in the top right and tap Remove (a grown-up sum is asked first). To remove everything, uninstall the app.

Web app without an account: progress is in the browser. Remove an explorer the same way, or clear the site data for olympiad.tulx.app in your browser settings.

Web app with an account: open Who is learning? and choose Delete account. The account, its sign-in tokens and the saved progress are removed from our server at once. You can also email us from the account's address and we will delete it within 30 days. See the privacy policy.
