Olympiad Prep Privacy Policy
Effective: 24 October 2026. This policy covers the Android app Tulx: Olympiad Prep (package com.plycoder.Olympiad) published by plycoder, the web app at olympiad.tulx.app/app/, and this website.
The short version
- The app works completely offline. The whole question bank is inside it.
- The Android app has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics.
- The web app works without an account and keeps progress in your browser. A grown-up may choose to create an account (email + password) to keep progress across computers; that is the only data we store, and it can be deleted at any time.
- Everything a learner does (explorer names, class, stars, answers, mistake book, settings) is stored only on the device.
- We do not collect, receive or sell personal information from the app.
Who we are
Olympiad Prep is developed and published by plycoder (Md Mahabubur Rahman), Dhaka 1236, Bangladesh. Contact: tulx.app@gmail.com.
Data stored on the device
The app keeps a local database with up to six explorer profiles. For each explorer it stores the name typed when the profile was made, the chosen badge, group and class, subject, stars and medals, finished and unfinished quests with the answers given, the mistake book, weekly check-ins, competition checklist ticks, puzzle progress, and settings such as timer, read-aloud and reading speed. The device's reduce-motion setting is read to turn animations off.
This information never leaves the device through the app. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. Android's own backup, if the device owner has turned it on, is controlled by Android and Google, not by this app.
Deleting data
- One explorer: open the badge in the top right, choose the explorer's profile and tap Remove. A grown-up sum is asked first. Everything saved for that explorer is deleted at once and cannot be brought back.
- Everything: uninstall the app, or clear its storage in Android settings.
For the Android app nothing is stored on our side, so there is nothing for us to delete. For a web-app account, see The web app below. Questions: tulx.app@gmail.com.
Read aloud
Questions and hints can be spoken by your device's own text-to-speech engine. The app hands the text to that engine on the device; which engine is used, and whether it works offline, is set in Android's accessibility or language settings and governed by that engine's provider.
Internet use
The app has the Internet permission for two optional features:
- Competition links. The Compete tab can open an organiser's website in your browser. The app asks before it opens anything, and what happens on that site is covered by its own privacy policy.
- Question-bank updates. A build of the app can be configured to check a plycoder web address for a newer set of question files. That request carries no personal data and no identifier about you or the device; like any web request it reveals the requesting IP address to our web server, which keeps ordinary server logs for a short time for security and troubleshooting. The downloaded files are checked (size, SHA-256, answer keys) before they are used. Without this configuration, nothing in the app touches the network.
Children
Olympiad Prep is made for learners from age three upwards and for the adults who help them. The app does not collect personal information from anyone, so none is collected from children. A child may type a name for an explorer profile; that name stays on the device. There are no in-app purchases, no advertising, no social features and no messaging.
Third parties
The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs. It uses open-source libraries for local storage (SQLite), text-to-speech and opening links, none of which send data to us.
The web app
The same app runs in a desktop browser at olympiad.tulx.app/app/. Without an account it behaves like the Android app: explorer profiles, answers, the mistake book and settings are kept in your browser's own storage on that computer and are not sent to us. Clearing the browser's site data removes them.
Optional account. In the grown-ups area a parent or teacher can create an account with an email address and a password so that progress follows the learner to another computer. If you do, we store on our server: the email address, a one-way hash of the password (never the password itself), the time the account was made and last used, and the progress record itself (the same explorer names, class, stars, answers, mistake book and settings that the app keeps locally). We use this only to sign you in and to give the progress back to you. It is not used for advertising or analytics, not shared with anyone, and not sold. Sign-in tokens are stored in your browser and expire after 90 days without use.
The web app loads two fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.gstatic.com) when it starts; that request shows Google your IP address and browser type and is governed by Google's privacy policy. Everything else the web app needs comes from our own server.
Children. Accounts are for grown-ups; creating or deleting one sits behind the grown-up check. A child may still type an explorer name into the app, and that name is part of the progress record if a grown-up has turned on online saving.
Deleting an account. In the same sheet, Delete account removes the account, its sign-in tokens and the stored progress at once; or write to tulx.app@gmail.com from the account's email address and we will delete it within 30 days. Ordinary web-server logs (IP address, requested address, browser type) are kept for a short time for security.
This website
The pages of olympiad.tulx.app outside /app/ are a static site. They set no cookies, use no analytics and load nothing from third-party servers. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, requested page, browser type) for a short time for security.
Changes
If a future version adds a feature that changes how data is handled, this page will be updated with a new effective date before that version is released.
